Celebration of Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanthi on 05.04.2024,at Agricultural College, Adilabad

Sri. Babu Jagjivan Ram Birth anniversary was celebrated at Agricultural College, Adilabad involving staff and students on 05-04-2024 at 09.00 AM. Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean, garlanded the photo of Babu Jagjivan Ram and paid floral tributes. The staff and students also paid homage to Babu Jagjivan Ram with flowers. As a part of Programme OISA, Ag. College, Adilabad, Dr. M. Suresh, Asst. Professor (SS&AC) welcomed the Teaching, Non-Teaching staff and student and was followed by addressed about the significance of the day, briefed about Babu Jagjivan Ram life history, Most importantly, he was the Defence Minister of India during the Indo-Pak war of 1971, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. His contribution to the Green Revolution in India and modernizing Indian agriculture, during his two tenures as Union Agriculture Minister are still remembered.He also holds another record for being the longest-serving cabinet minister in India (30 years). On this occasion Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean, in his speech stated that Babu Jagjivan Ram birth anniversary is remembered as “SAMATHA DIWAS” and he was instrumental in the foundation of the All India Depressed Classes League, an organization dedicated to attaining equality for untouchables, He also served as Union minister with various portfolios for more than thirty years. Later homage offered to Babu Jagjivan Ram by the teaching faculty followed by brief messages about Babu Jagjivan Ram birth anniversary by, Dr. K. Bhanu Rekha Professor, Agronomy, Dr. G. Anitha, Associate Professor, Entomology, Non- Teaching staff and Two girls students and one boy students also spoke about the significance of the occasion. The programme ended with the vote of thanks presented by the Officer In charge of Student Affairs, Dr.M. Suresh.
