Agricultural College, Adilabad has organized 129th birth anniversary (Jayanthi) of Veeranari Chakali Ilamma on 26.09.2024 at Agricultural College, Adilabad involving staff and students at 11:45 AM. The programme was welcomed by Dr. M. Suresh, Officer Incharge Student Affairs. The event started with Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Adilabad garlanded the photo of Veeranaari Chityala Ilamma and paid floral tributes. The staff and students also paid homage to Ilamma with flowers. Dr. M. Suresh, later welcomed the Teaching, Non-Teaching staff and student and was followed by addressed about the significance of the day. Briefed about history of Veeranari Chityala Ilamma on her birth anniversary. Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean in his speech Chakali Ilamma was an revolutionary leader during the Telangana armed rebellion between 1940-1947. She took the red flag against the anarchy of Zamindar Ramchandra Reddy known as Visnoor Deshmukh to grab her land. She is one of the first women to dismantle the supremacy of the feudal lords of Telangana and has inspired various women to fight for their land and dignity. Associate Dean also highlighted her spirit of struggle as a source of inspiration for today’s youth and said it was a matter of pride to have named the Women's College, Koti, Hyderabad after Chakali Ilamma in recognition of her sacrifice. Later brief messages about Veeranaari Chityala Ilamma birth anniversary by Dr. B. Rajeswari, Professor, (Pl. Path.), Dr. K. Bhanu Rekha, Professor, (Agro.), Non- Teaching staff and students also spoken about the significance of the occasion. The programme was attended by the Teaching, Non Teaching staff and students of Agricultural College, Adilabad.
