Celebration of 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah on the eve of Poshan Abhiyaan 2022 on 16.09.2022

College of Agriculture, NSS unit, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad conducted “Celebration of 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maa” as part of Jan Andolan on 16.09.2022 in Premavathipet village to create awareness to MPPS school children, and Aganvadi children, Premavathipet, Mylardevpalli sector, Serlingampally project. POSHAN Abhiyaan is the Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, and adolescents. The Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to accelerate India’s progress on malnutrition, in a time bound manner with fixed target. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment or Poshan Abhiyaan 2022 aiming to make India malnutrition free by 2022. As a part of “Celebration of 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maa” the NSS unit, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar scheduled a programme on “Health and Nutrition awareness for kids”. N.S.S programme Officers educating kids about good nutrition from an early age helps them to create and maintain a well-balanced, healthy life. Also impart knowledge on prevailing micronutrient deficiencies, educate the significance of micronutrients in their routine diet, Promote locally available food resources rich in micronutrients and raise awareness of ethnic local foods rich in micronutrients. Showcasing all the millets pictorial charts reflecting the nutritional values for easy understanding to children. This programme was graced by Sri. G. Kiran Kumar, SGT, Smt. Muneer Begam, SGT, MPPS Premavathipet, Smt. Vinoda, Anganwadi teacher along with NSS P.O’s Dr. D. Shivani, Dr. Vara prasad, Dr. A. Meena, Dr. Ch. Srilatha and Dr. P. Revathi. Around 50 MPPS school children and 30 aganwadi children participated in the programme. Healthy groundnut chikkis and gingerly chikkis distributed to children as a part of live demonstration of healthy food.
