A Kisan Mela was organized by the Department of Agriculture in association with ATMA, Siddipet district at Agriculture Market Committee (AMC) on 23-02-2019 at Siddipet. Kisan Mela was inaugurated by Shri K. Prabhakar Reddy garu, Member of Parliament, Medak, Telangana State in the presence of Sri. Ragula Saraiah garu, Vice Chairman, Zilla Parishad, Siddipet district, Sri V. Nagi Reddy garu, Chairman, Rythu Samanwaya Samithi, Sri Ravinder Reddy garu, Chairman, Siddipet Urban Development Authority (SUDA), Siddipet, Mr. Sravan Kumar, DAO, Siddipet district and other officials of Agriculture and line departments, scientists of PJTSAU and farmers.

Sunitha, Scientist (Ento), AINP on Vertebrate Pest Management, Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC), Mrs. D. Sravanthi, Scientist (Agro), Ms. D. Swetha, Scientist, (Agro.), Mrs. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Breeding), ARS, Tornala, Mr. A. Satish, Asst. Prof. (Agro.), APT, Tornala and Dr. M.R. Bhanu Sree, Asst. Prof., Agricultural College, Warangal and 20 second year students of APT, Tornala have also participated in the Kisan Mela.
Scientists from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agril. University (PJTSAU) have arranged an exhibition stall where in seeds of improved varieties/hybrids of Paddy, Maize, Castor, Jowar, Bajra, Redgram, Cowpea and Soybean, a model on farm pond technology and machinery for control of wild boar/monkeys/birds and several posters on machine transplanting in rice, water saving technologies rice and I.D crops, transplanting technique in redgram, best management practices in castor, fall army worm menace and its control measures in maize, sowing rule for rainfed farmers, DOs & DONTs for safe use of pesticides, vermicompost and hydroponic fodder production for dairy farmers, were displayed. The technologies exhibited have attracted most of the visiting farmers, students, officials and VIPs.
Shri K. Prabhakar Reddy garu, Member of Parliament, Medak, Telangana state appreciated the efforts of Department of Agriculture for organizing Kisan Mela and arranging exhibitions involving scientists from PJTSAU, allied departments and private companies. Further, he requested the farmers to visit each and every exhibition stall and discuss with the concerned officials and adopt modern Agriculture technologies in order to reap higher yields thus higher income.
During post lunch session, an interaction with farmers and scientists was organized. Dr. V. Vasudeva Rao, Principal Scientist & Head, AINP on Vertebrate Pest Management demonstrated the technology for the control of wild boar/monkeys/birds to the farmers and department officials. Dr. Ch. Damodar Raju, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding), Rice Research Center, Rajendranagar explained about varieties and production technology of rice. Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal, APT, Tornala gave a brief account of soil health management and answered questions on nutrient deficiency in rabi maize. Later, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Senior Scientist (Agro.) & Head, ARS, Tornala discussed in detaile regarding low cost drought management methods, farm pond technology, management of pink boll worm through residue incorporation immediately harvesting of kapas in cotton and careful use of complex fertilizers in field crops, Dr. D. Bhadru, Scientist (Pl. Breeding), Maize Research Center spoke on fall army worm menace and it’s management in maize. Dr. M.R. Bhanu Sree, Asst. Prof., Agricultural College, Warangal gave a brief account on vegetable cultivation. At the end, scientists answered queries raised by farmers on fall army worm, pink boll worm and Phosphorus deficiency in maize.
