Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) & Regional Agricultural Research Station, Palem has jointly organized training cum awareness programme on Best management practices in Redgram on 03.11.2020 at KVK premises. The programme was chaired by Dr. K. Avil Kumar (ADR,RARS, Palem) in this programme Dr. C.V. Sameer kumar, PS-Millets, Dr. Sujatha, PS-Oil seeds, Dr. T. Prabhakhar Reddy (PC, KVK, Palem) and scientists of KVK and RARS participated. Dr. K. Avil Kumar (ADR, RARS, Palem) addressed the farmers on various water management technologies for obtaining the higher yields in Redgram, insisted farmers to take up the Paddy follows Green gram or Black gram cultivation to enhance the soil fertility. Released the information brochure on best management practices in Redgram and distributed to the farmers. Dr. C.V. Sameer Kumar, PS-Millets given importance of pulses cultivation and varieties suitable for Rabi pulses cultivation like Greengarm (WGG-42), Blackgram (PU-31). Dr. Sujatha, PS-Oil Seeds given importance of oil seed crops cultivation, seed & soil treatment in Groundnut to reduce the seed & soil born diseases. Dr. T. Prabhakhar Reddy (PC, KVK, Palem) briefed about measures to be taken to reduce the flower drop in Redgram at flowering stage and role of macro & micronutrients management for proper pod setting. M. Rajashekhar (SMS-PP) explained about the IPM practices to reduce the incidence of Spotted pod borer (Maruca) and Gram pod borer (Helicoverpa) in Redgram. In this programme a total of 38 farmers from Nandivaddeman, Khanapur, Palem villages of Bijinepally mandal and Kummera village of Nagarkurnool mandal were participated.
