Demonstration of MAT nursery at adopted village, Veldhurthy by RARS, Polasa, Jagtial on 03-12-2020

Regional Agricultural Research station, Polasa, Jagtial conducted demonstration of MAT nursery in paddy on 03.12.2020 at adopted village, Veldhurthy. Smt. P. Sadvi, Scientist (Extension) organized the programme. Dr.P. Madukar Rao, Scientist (Agronomy)explained the procedure of raising MAT nursery. Farmers planned raising of MAT nursery in an area of 3 acres. For this purpose 14 kg seed (JGL 24423 )was used. The nursery area is ploughed twice and also puddled before 48 hours of sowing. Seeds were soaked for 24 hours, drained and incubated the soaked seeds for 24 hours and sown after the seeds sprouted. For raising MAT nursery wooden frame consisting of eight mats and each mat size of (58 cm long ×28 cm width×2cm height) was placed on polythene sheet and two persons standing in opposite direction filled the frames with fine puddled soil. Farmers expressed that the technology is very much useful as it can address labour problem and also requiring the less seed.
