PJTSAU Celebrates sixth convocation on 10-06-2024

The Professor Jayashankar Telangana state agricultural university has conducted its sixth annual convocation on 10th June 2024 in a grand manner. Sri C.P Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Telangana and the chancellor of PJTSAU has presided over the convocation proceedings while Challa Sreeenivasulu Setty, MD, State Bank of India, Mumbai & Alumni of college of agriculture Rajendranagar was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. The chancellor and Governor Sri C.P Radhakrishnan while addressing during the convocation has specified that, the importance of agriculture in the present context cannot be undermined since agriculture is the basis of all cultures. He cautioned that, India being the most populous country in the world cannot afford to import food grains and therefore utmost priority shall be given to agriculture. On the occasion, the chancellor urged the young graduates who are received their degrees to focus on how to minimize the usage of water, to increase the productivity, per acre yield, good quality seed material and shall equip themselves to address the agricultural problems. He also advised to raise and rise to face the problems and to understand the competition outside the world. He also advised the agri students to take advantage of the innovations in the information and technology for serving the farming community in a better way. He informed that during last ten years the farmers suicides have been drastically reduced because of various initiatives by the union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi. He also urged that students and agricultural researchers to focus on improving the yield, reduce the cost of cultivation and prove the effective technologies in the farmers’ fields as seeing is believing. The chief guest Challa Sreenivasulu setty while giving his convocation address, urged the graduates to shoulder the responsibilities and contribute to nation building in the years ahead. We are happy that our agricultural production is dominating many countries across the world by not only meeting domestic demands but we have also been able to export farm produce to other countries but the intensive agricultural practices since past have been damaging the environment in many geographies. In the present context, we shall focus on educating our farmers on taking advantage of carbon credits and agri graduates shall take the advantage of robust startup ecosystem, SBI is opening exclusive startup branches to encourage more agri preneurs to emerge. He also stressed that; youth shall indeed aim to become job creators and not job seekers. The vice chancellor M Raghu Nandan Rao in his VC’s report briefed about the university progress and accomplishments in the arena of teaching, research and extension during 2020-2021. A total, about 752 students have received their degrees in the 6th convocation that includes UG, PG and PhD of all faculties. While 11 students in PG and PhD, 08 students in UG were awarded the gold medals in various categories. Miss B. Divya in the faculty of agriculture and Miss velcahala Sai Prathyusha in the faculty agricultural engineering have received 06 gold medals each for their outstanding performance in the academics. The academic council members, Registrar & University officers of PJTSAU, former vice chancellors, members, Board of Management, former Deans, faculty and students have participated in the convocation.
