The Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) had organised the Webinar on FORECAST OF MONSOON ONSET 2020: CENTRAL INDIA & TELANGANA on 14-05-2020". Prof. Elena Surovyatkina, Leader of Monsoon Research Group, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Potsdam, Germany had delivered the lecture on monsoon prediction for central india and Telangana for 2020. Dr.Ramesh Chennamaneni, Hon’ble MLA,Telangana; Humboldt-Expert in Agriculture, Environment and Cooperation; Chairman, Indo-German Project on Sustainability had introduced the eminent speaker and he joined the webinar from Germany. Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU, has presided over the Webinar. While delivering the lecture through webinar Prof. Elena Surovyatkina, predicted the normal monsoon for Telangana and Central India. The onset of Monsoon in Telangana appears around 3days early then in the Eastern Ghats. The Expected onset of monsoon in Telangana will be in between 16th June to 24 June 2020 said the Prof. Elena. However, She also predicts that, Isolated rainfall and dry spells expected between last week of June to 15th of July. Continues rainfall expected between 15th July to 13th October. The Continued rainfall in the Eastern Ghats starts early then in Telangana, that could be a good indicator for farmers preparing for continued rainfall in Telangana according to Prof. Elena. Prof. Elena Surovyatkina, predicts that Telangana State will receive the rainfall about 854mm during the monsoon period. Further she said that, the onset of monsoon in Central India is expected to delayed. There will be a deficit rainfall in Central and East & North east India according Prof. Elena's prediction.
