The Second Convocation of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agril. University (PJTSAU) is organized on 09-12-2018 at the University Auditorium Rajendranagar Hyderabad. The Hon’ble Governor of Telangana State and Chancellor of University Sri. E.S.L Narasimhan advised the students of Agriculture to render services to the society towards food, health economic and environmental security. Educate the farmers about organic farming to have healthy and nutritious food , which also avoids chronic disease like cancer in human beings . The farmers should also be sensitized about micro irrigation advantages, crop diversification, herbal plantation, harmful effects of excessive use of pesticides, crop colonies, Value addition of crops for remunerative farming. He also emphasized need of National Water policy to address the irrigation needs of farmers in the country. Further he suggested to link the farm produce to better market price to address the issue of Rural-Urban divide and make the agriculture profitable The aid towards agriculture should be productivity linked he said. Governor has complemented the efforts of Vice chancellor Dr. V Praveen Rao for his exceptional work towards Curricular and Extra- curricular programmes of university
Dr. RS Paroda, Chairman, Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences [TAAS] and Former Director General, ICAR, has honoured with Doctor of Science degree (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his contribution in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. On this occasion Dr.R.S.Paroda delivered the convocation address and highlighted the need for achievement of Sustainable development goals towards household nutrition security i.e No poverty and no hunger in the country. Popularize the good agronomic practices through natural resource management with low cost of production. Formulate policies and programmes by considering the principle of “farmer first”. Create awareness about post production management technology in agriculture for better income he says. Empower the women in agriculture to ensure house hold nutritional security he added. Dr Paroda suggests to strengthen the National Agricultural research system by involving all stake holders. The farm rural youth should be motivated towards Agril. Entrepreneurship and make them as “job providers” rather than job seeker. He advised degree awardees to work hard, create opportunities , take the risk by accepting the challenges and serve the society as good human being. He appreciated the efforts of Vice-chancellor Dr. V Praveen Rao in achieving 2nd rank among Agricultural universities in the country.
Dr.V.Praveen Rao , Vice Chancellor of University in his welcome address briefed the activities undertaken during 2016 -2017. He explained about reforms in the university i.e adoption of V Deans committee recommendations, AELP, Innovative student radio programme [Chenu kaburlu] , Online library facilities , Sports facility, Haritha haram plantation and NSS/NCC activities of students . He also highlighted the achievements in the field of research like Accreditation to Pesticide residue lab and Quality control lab, Recognition to different research schemes for their outstanding contribution at national level. He also mentioned of promotion of Natural Resource management, Alternate wetting and drying method in Rice, Mechanized rice cultivation, Farm pond technology among farmers. He also indicated contributions of extension units of university like KVK/DAATTC/AICC/ATIC/Electronic wing and EEI in transfer of technology. In this convocation about 746 degrees were awarded to the students at under graduate /Post graduate and Ph.D level. Gold medals were also presented to the students for excellent performance in UG/PG/Ph.D courses. Registrar Dr. S. Sudheer Kumar and Deans, Directors, Members of Board of Management, and academic council members were present.
