As per the instruction received from Dean of Student Affairs, PJTSAU, Agricultural College, Aswaraopet conducted “National Girl Child Day” on 24th January, 2022 through virtual mode. The day celebrated with an aim to provide support and opportunities to girls around the country, to create awareness about the importance of female education, health and nutrition, to promote awareness about the rights of the girl child and to spread awareness among the public about inequities faced by girls in the society. Associate Incharge, Dr. I.V. Srinivas Reddy has enlighten the students about National Girl Child Day. He said that every year National Girl Child Day is celebrated on 24th January, it is an initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development started during 2008. He has mentioned that girl child is important asset for the world. Providing proper education facilitates to the girls creates knowledge, builds confidence, and breaks down barriers to opportunity. empowerment. Later Dr. K. Gopala Krishanamurthy, Associate Professor, Dept. of GPBR has added about the rights include nondiscrimination, the right to survival and development of potential, protection from harmful influences, abuses and exploitation, full participation in family, cultural and social life. Further, Dr. V. Venkanna, Associate Professor, Dept. of GPBR has explained clearly about the scheme “Beti Bachao - Beti Padhao” and women welfare schemes initiated by central government towards girl child education, scholarships, etc. Then, Smt. K. Naganjali, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Agronomy said that success stories of various women CEO’s of our countries to encourage girl students. Later, Dr. K.Shireesha mentioned her own story to motivate the girl students. Finally, NSS P.O Smt. D. Sravanthi mentioned that “save the girl child, educate the girl child” is a campaign of the Government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India. All the teaching, non-teaching faculty and students participated in programme actively. NSS PO’s Dr. Ramprasad, Dr. Ramesh and Smt. D.Sravanthi were conducted the programme through Cisco Webex.
