Agricultural College, Aswaraopet - PJTSAU- Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign-Report on Single use plastic awareness and Distribution of cloth bags on 22-09-2023

As per the instructions from the University, Distribution of Cloth bags was done as part of Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign at Agricultural College, Aswaraopet. In this event, Dr.I.V.Sreenivasa Reddy, Associate Dean (i/c) of the college delivered speech on menace of single use plastics. Nearly 300 million tons of plastic is produced each year worldwide, half of which is for single-use items. That's nearly equivalent to the weight of the entire human population. So reducing single use plastics is the most effective means of avoiding this waste. He also requested the gathering to use cloth bags instead of single use plastic covers in their daily lifestyle. Further he quoted the examples of the Kinnera Boys Hostel and Sabari Girls Hostel wherein they have replaced the single use plastic covers with cloth bags and plastic buckets for bringing the groceries. Later 50 cloth bags were distributed to the teaching staff, non-teaching staff, outsourcing, time scale employees and students of the college. The teaching staff Dr.K.Naganjali, Mrs. Jambamma, Dr.T.Pavani, Dr.P.Neelima, Mrs.D.Sravanthi, Ms. G.Amuktamalyada, NSS volunteers of II year and IV year students have actively participated in the programme. The entire programme was organized by NSS Programme officers of the college Dr.P.Reddypriya, Dr.R.Ramesh and Dr.K.Shireesha.
