Village adoption team has organised an exclusive event to make the farmers aware about the measures to make available black soils in the village to suitable for oil palm cultivation. In this event, Dr. M.V. Prasad, Acting Director, ICAR-IIOPR has visited adopted village Kothapeta on 21.12.2022. He technically empowered the Department of Horticulture, farmers in many aspects of oil palm cultivation through an extension talk. He inspected the proposed land for oil palm cultivation along with village adoption team, DHSO& HO and Farmers and provided valuable suggestions to make available soil to suite oil palm cultivation. He suggested to add husk or sand and red soil along with farm yard manure to fill the pits of oil palm while planting. Further, he suggested to cultivate Dhaincha to improve soil structure and nutrient availability. Mr. Srinivas, DHSO explained the marketing of oil palm and support of government for oil palm etc. to the farmers. Soon after the visit, Dr. M.V. Prasad has interacted with the students and faculty of Agricultural College, Warangal and given a lecture on “Advances of cyber extension services for Agriculture “motivated them towards various extension services to the farmers by sighting examples of extension services offered from ICAR-IIOPR. Further, he has mentioned the ways and means of research projects to propose for external agencies and motivated the faculty.
