Agricultural College Sircilla celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first Union Agriculture Minister of Independent India, as Agriculture Education Day on 3 December 2019 at Zilla Parishad High School, Sircilla. Mrs. K. Bhavya Sree, Asst. Professor (Hort.) has briefed the importance of the programme and said that India is basically Agriculture dependent nation and more than 80% of the population directly depending on Agriculture for their livelihood and Income. Development of Agriculture in the Nation is to be more concentrated and the present student generation must be aware of Agricultural Education and there is a need to show interest on the profession. The Associate Dean, Dr. T. Uma Maheswari has mentioned that farmers are cultivating the crops, but following scientific methods Agriculture is would be more beneficial. She explained that the event was organized to educate students to encourage and choosing Agriculture as a profession by explaining the job prospects such as Scientists and Agri-enterpreneurs and allied sectors. As a part of celebration, the College has organized an exhibition for showcasing different exhibits related to Crop production, Soil Science, Agril. Engineering, Entomology, Horticulture, Agril. Extension and Crop physiology for the benefit of the students. Students evinced keen interest on the activities involved in Agricultural education. In the programme, a total of 250 students from the school, teaching and supporting staff from Agricultural College, Sircilla have participated.
