Agricultural Education Day at College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad on 03-12-2020

Indian Council of Agricultural Research has designated 3rd December as “Agricultural Education Day” to commemorate the birth anniversary of first President of Independent India and Union Minister for Agriculture, ‘Bharat Ratna’ Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The objective of this day is to expose students including schools to various facets of agriculture and its relevance to country's development, inspire them and attract them towards agriculture field so that they develop interest in agriculture and allied subjects, choose professional career after their schooling in some of these courses, engage themselves in agriculture and related activities or become agripreneurs in future. On this occasion on 2nd December the college has organised online Elocution, Poster making and Singing competitions for school students. There was over whiling response from 150 school students from classes VI to X standard from various government and private schools located in the vicinity of Hyderabad have participated in the competition. The theme for Elocution competition was “Role of Agriculture in Economic Development” and for Poster making “Impact of global warming on agriculture” and for Singing “Folk Song Related to Agriculture”. On 3rd December Agricultural Education Day was celebrated by offering floral tributes to Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Certificates to the winners of various competitions were distributed by Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Hon’ble Vice chancellor at the committee Hall. Dr.B. Padmaja, NSS PO welcomed the Dean of Agriculture & Hon’ble Board Member Dr. Seema, Hon’ble Board Members Dr. Manohar Rao, Dr. Farzana Jabeen & Associate Dean, Dr. K. Suhasini on to the dais. Associate Dean, Dr. K. Suhasini welcomed the guests and spoke about the importance of the day. Dean of Agriculture & Hon’ble Board Member Dr. Seema stressed that agriculture faces multiple challenges and called upon the young minds to explore agriculture for addressing the issues and serving the farmers of our country. On this day a Motivational lecture was organised. The speaker Brigadier Ganesham spoke on Gandhian principle “More for less for many people” and also said that elders are like moving library and also said that children must record the elder people’s advice and practice. On the eve of Agricultural Education Day Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Hon’ble Vice chancellor has briefed about the role of Indian Agriculture at the Global level, also talked about various issues related to Agriculture and the urgency to solve them. He urged the students to have proper understanding about Indian Agriculture and rural background so that it is easy to solve the problems related to agriculture and rural farming. On the occasion he reminded eco system services and then interacted with the students and answered the queries raised by the school students.
