Agricultural Education Day on 03-12-2021
Agricultural College, Jagtial has organized “Agricultural Education Day” on 3rd December, 2021. 70 students from 8th, 9th and 10th standards of Alphores e-techno School had visited the College. An essay writing competition was conducted for the school students on the topic “Importance of Agricultural Education in India”. The programme started with paying floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Dr. S. Narender Reddy, Associate Dean addressed the students and explained about origin of Agricultural Education Day and importance of the agriculture and agricultural education in creating a huge impact on next coming generations. Dr. O. Sampath, Assistant Professor & OSA made aware of the ICAR-Education system and a way forward in selecting the Agricultural courses for the better future of the youngsters. Dr. T. Sravan Kumar, Assistant Professor addressed the students regarding the current agricultural scenario, role of youth and job opportunities in agriculture sectors. The teachers from Alphores e-techno School, Smt. Mamatha and Mr. Vinod Kumar have expressed their thanks for motivating, guiding and providing an opportunity to get exposed to the agricultural education system and University technologies which may create an impact on mindset of their students. The programme was concluded by giving prizes (1st, 2nd & 3rd) to the winners of the essay writing competition and Vote of thanks. Further the school students were explained about different equipment’s, models and specimens available in the laboratories, various technologies displayed in Agricultural Information Museum and also got exposed to Knowledge Management Center, Digital Library, College farm, AELP Units viz., Sericulture, Vermicompost and Polyhouse and farm machinery available in the college. Later the students were given an opportunity to share their views on their visit. The faculty, B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture II & Final year students and M.Sc. (Ag) students of the college have participated in the online Agricultural Education Day celebrations conducted by ICAR and listened the address of Sri Kailash Chowdary, Ministry of State Agricultural and Farmers Welfare, Government of India at 3:00 PM.
