AICRP on Forage Crops & Utilization, ARI, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad participated in Forage Technology Exhibition Cum Industry Meet-2024 held at Jhansi from 12.02.2024 to 13.02.2024. Keeping in view of doubling the farmers income in Agriculture and allied sectors, the Forage Crops & Utilization, ARI, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar scheme displayed the following forage varieties released and notified by PJTSAU, Hyderabad at national level exhibition. The high yielding forage varieties like Forage Maize (TSFM 15-5) is released over national check African tall which is the ruling variety for past 20 years with average green fodder yield potential of 445.0 q ha-1 and dry matter yield potential of 101.0 q ha-1; Forage Pearl Millet variety (TSFB 15-4) has high green fodder (427 q ha-1) and dry matter yield (84.7 q ha-1) potential and nutritious with high crude protein content (9.8%); Forage Pearl Millet variety (TSFB 15-8) released as single cut but also suitable for multicut with 1st cut at 50DAS, Subsequent cuts-30 days interval and also resistant to leaf spot and blight; Forage Pearl Millet variety (TSFB 17-7) released in the name of Telangana Fodder Bajra -1 which is Moderately resistant to leaf blast, downy mildew and resistant to leaf defoliators; Forage Pearl Millet (Multicut) TSFB 18-1 (Telangana Multicut Fodder Bajra-1) with High tillering ability; Forage multicut Motibajra (APFB 09-1) has green fodder yield potential of 81.1tons/ha in 3 cuts and Crude protein content is 9.6%. Hedge Lucerne variety (TSHL-1) which is Released for Central Zone and recommended for the States Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh with average green and dry fodder yield potential of 425 q/ha/yr and 92 q/ha/yr respectively and crude protein content is15.7%. Forage Cowpea Vijaya (APFC10-1) is short duration, Non-twiny, Suitable for Rainfed as well as Irrigated conditions and for intercropping. During the exhibition, Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Principal Scientist (SSAC) explained in detailed about the varieties to the higher officials, stake holders and local farmers of Jhansi, UP. The above forage varieties of PJTSAU were appreciated by Dr. D.K.
