IMPROVING LIVESTOCK HEALTH: ANIMAL HEALTH CAMPS BENEFIT 105 FARMERS at KVK ADILABAD on 06.11.2024

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Adilabad, under the TDC NICRA initiative, successfully organized two animal health camps on 06.11.2024 and 08.11.2024 at Sakinapur village and Palsi K village in Talamadugu mandal. The camps were held in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, aiming to address various animal health concerns and improve livestock management in the region. Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar, Programme Coordinator of KVK Adilabad, and Dr. Kishan Singh, District Officer of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, along with the KVK scientists, veterinary assistant surgeons, and other staff members took part in the programme. These experts worked together to provide essential veterinary services and guidance to local farmers. A key highlight of the camps was the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination drive, which aimed at preventing the spread of this contagious disease among livestock. In addition, farmers received medicines to address various common animal health problems. Other provisions included mineral lick bricks and mineral mixtures to improve the nutritional health of animals, as well as artificial insemination services to enhance breeding practices among the livestock. A total of 105 farmers from the two villages benefited from the camp, gaining valuable knowledge and resources to improve the health and productivity of their animals. These efforts by KVK Adilabad, in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, have played a significant role in promoting sustainable animal husbandry practices, ensuring better health and welfare for livestock in Talamadugu mandal. In order to improve the livelihoods of farmers who depend on animal husbandry and to strengthen the agricultural ecology, such activities are essential.
