An awareness programme on anti-ragging is organised at Auditorium, Agricultural College, Palem on 27th September 2019. Sri. Jogula Chennaiah, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nagarkurnool district graced the programme as Chief Guest. B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students from all the years have attended this programme along with the teaching and non-teaching staff of Agricultural College, Palem. Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy welcomed the chief guest with warm regards and briefed about the anti-ragging measures undertaken in the college. He stated that an anti-ragging committee comprising of 16 members under the chairmanship of Associate Dean along with six faculty members, one police personnel, eight students including boys and girls representatives of 2nd, 3rd and final year students has been constituted and besides this anti-ragging squad has been formed for surprise checks, anti-ragging orientation programme has been conducted , anti-ragging booklets have been distributed to the students, CCTV cameras have been installed and regularly monitored. Chief guest Sri Jogula Chenniah, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nagarkurnool district during his talk with the students stated that the term “ragging” has not been seen and originated from our culture. He instructed students not to involve in any kind of activity that may hurt the other fellow student physically and emotionally. He ascertained students about the cases of individuals who in the name of ragging have faced lot of problems in their career. He also laid emphasis on the legal punishments’ students will likely face when they involve in ragging activities and urged every student to make Agricultural college, Palem as a ragging free campus. Later, students from first year and third year have expressed their positive views on ragging measures being taken up in the college and ensured to make this campus a ragging free campus. They also thanked the chief guest for sparing his valuable time for interaction. Officer In-charge Student Affairs, Mr. E. Satyanarayana, Assistant Professor, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry ended the programme with a vote of thanks.
