Awareness Programme on Vanakalam Preparedness was organized by Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar for Adopted Village, Nagulamallial and other adjacent villages of Kothapally mandal of Karimnagar district in the Rythu Vedika of Baddipally on June, 14th, 2024. Dr. G. Usharani Scientist (Plant Breeding) and Adopted Village Incharge has welcomed the dignitaries onto the dias. The Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head, Dr. G.Manjulatha sensitized the farmers to implement the latest technologies developed by PJTSAU in hand with their farming experiences to reap high benefits with reduced cost of cultivation and also explained the good agricultural practices for kharif season. Awareness on High Density Planting in Cotton was detailed by DAATTC, Coordinator, Dr. K.Madan Mohan Reddy and have encouraged the farmers to go for cotton planting with vacuum precision planter facilitated by ARS Karimnagar. Dr.P.Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) explained the farmers about the good agricultural practices for cultivating paddy and sensitized the farmers to reduce the usage of application of excess fertilizer bags. Dr.G.Usharani, Scientist (Pl.Br.) briefed the recently released high yielding varieties suitable for vanakalam for prominent crops of the village. Dr. M. Rajendra Prasad, Scientist (Crop Protection), DAATTC, Karimnagar has enlightened the farmers with the precautionary measures for pest and disease incidence in kharif crops. Later, the minikits of paddy viz., KNM 12510, KPS 1063 and RNR31479 were distributed to the interested farmers. The villagers were regularly told in the meetings regarding the significance of green manure crops in agriculture and their management aspects for increasing the soil fertility and also for efficient usage of fertilizers. As such, a farmer by name Katla Prabhakar has rightly implemented the concept and field visit to the green gram WGG-42 green manure crop with paddy nursery was taken up. The Mandal Agricultural Officer and Village Special Officer Sri. Ranjith and Agricultural Extension Officer, Sri. Lalitha and around 55 farmers from adopted village and other adjacent villages have participated in the programme.
