Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar organized awareness programme and demonstrations on Direct Seeding in Rice (DSR)and High Density Planting in Bt cotton at Adopted Village, Perkapally, Saidapur (M), Karimnagar Dist. on 24thJune, 2021

An awareness programme and field demonstrations were organized with a special focus on Dry Direct Seeding in Rice and High Density Planting in Cotton at Perkapally of Saidapur Mandal on 24thJune, 2021 by the Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar. Dr. G.Usharani Scientist (Pl.Br.) and adopted village Incharge welcomed all the dignitaries and farmers. Sri.K.Shekar (Crop Production) & Coordinator, DAATTC, Karimnagar has explained the improved management practices to be followed under Dry Direct Seeding,Wet Direct Seeding of rice and the weed management practices under Direct Seeding of Rice and sensitized the farmers on importance of High density planting system in cotton for higher yields. The Dry Direct Seeding of rice was method demonstrated in Sri. P.Shankaraiah field with Jagtial Rice-1 variety in one acre. Later, the HDPS in cotton was method demonstrated in the field of Sri. Chintam Rajesh with the Sadanand hybrid of Bt cotton and explained to the participated farmers regarding reduction in the spacing, increase in the number plants/acre so that farmers will get the higher yields under canopy management practices. In this programme emphasis was given to the extension functionaries to explore the possibilities for popularization and promotion of the cost saving technologies among the farming community. The zonal representatives from Coromandel International Limited participated in the programme and explained about the latest products that could be useful for the farmers in the ensuing crop season. Around 50 farmers participated in the programme and interacted with the scientists regarding cultivation aspects of major crops cultivated in the village.
