The Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar organized awareness and training programme on pre-kharif pulses, green manures, sesame cultivation and value addition aspects and distribution of WGG-42 seed at Adopted Village, Perkapally of Saidapur Mandal on 28th January, 2022. The Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head, Dr. G.Manjulatha, sensitized the farmers on the importance of pre-kharif pulses preceding rice/ green manures like green gram, sun hemp, sesbania preceding rice and were adviced to take up every season which can reduce 25% nitrogen dose for obtaining good yield in rice and to enrich the soil fertility. Also, the sesame cultivation and value addition aspects have been detailed to the farmers. In Perkapally, the practice of pre-kharif pulses and green manure crops preceding to rice is followed by few farmers but the acreage has been increased from 10-55 acres in the last season with the intervention of Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar. Later, input distribution of 50 kgs of WGG-42 has been taken up in the village. Field diagnostic visits were undertaken in maize, zero tillage maize, groundnut, safflower crops and need based suggestions for pest and disease control were adviced to the farmers. The farmer Sri. Ramanjaneyulu has taken up safflower crop in 8 acres which was at flowering stage in good condition. Dr. E. Rajanikanth Scientist (Agro.), Dr.G.Usha Rani, Scientist (Pl.Br.) and Dr. K. Madan Mohan Reddy Scientist (TOT), Sri Vamshi AEO of Perkapally Village and around 50 farmers participated in the programme.
