Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar organized World Pulse Day and also distributed Greengram Variety – Yadadri (WGG-42) and Sesame Swetha Til at Adopted Village, Perkapally on 10th February, 2021. Dr. G.Usharani Scientist (Pl.Br.) and Officer Incharge of Adopted Village welcomed the farmers and dignitaries on to the dias. The inaugural address on the eve of World Pulses Day was briefed by Dr.G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head and stressed on the significance of pulses in maintaining not only the good health of people but also that of soil. The theme of World Pulses Day – Nutritious Seeds for a Sustainable Future was highly emphasized. Dr.E.Rajanianth Scientist (Agro.) briefed the crop protection aspects of pulse crops. The farmer by name Sri. Vanaparthy Rayamallu was felicitated as the “Best Pulse Farmer” as he has been growing pulses regularly on a large scale in the village. 136 kgs of Greengram Yadadri (WGG-42) and 53 kgs of Sesamum - Swetha Til was distributed to the farmers. Around 100 farmers along with Mandal Agricultural Officer, Smt Vaidehi, Agricultural Extension Officer, Sri Katam Raju, Sarpanch Sri. B.Komaraiah, Upasarpanch, Sri. P.Srinivas, MPTC, Sri Mallesham also participated in the programme.
