World Soil Day was graciously organized by Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar on December 5th, 2023

Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University graciously organized World Soil Day on December 5th, 2023. The programme was organized at Rythu Vedika of Baddipally village of Kothapally mandal of Karimnagar district to create awareness on importance of soils and measures to protect the soils for future generations among the farming community. Dr. G. Usharani, Scientist (Plant Breeding) and Adopted Village Incharge has invited all the dignitaries on to the dias. Dr.G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head sensitized the farmers about the Soil Health and its Improvement through Agronomic Approaches, essence of preserving soil for sustainability, adopting soil test based fertilizer recommendations, usage of farm yard manure, vermicompost, bio-control agents, instead of using more complex fertilizers and pesticides. Dr.A.Vijaya Bhaskar, Senior Scientist (Path) enlightened the farmers regarding the Bio-control agents for seed treatment and disease management for Soil Health Management. Dr. P. Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) detailed the farmers on importance of Nutrient Management for Sustainable Crop Production. Dr.G.Usharani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) conveyed the need for Soil testing for sustaining soil health and improving the crop productivity and the method of soil sample collection for soil analysis from farmer’s field. FMC Company, Regional Marketing Manager Manichander explained about the company products viz., Legend for Paddy seed treatment, uses and benefits to farmers and showcased the FMC Zinatra solubility test and its usage in paddy nursery & main field and explained about Coragen and its importance in maize and paddy nursery and panicle initiation stage for control of stem borer. The Village Sarpanch, Sri Naini Prasad encouraged the farmers to surely carry out soil sample analysis and go for soil test based demonstrations for maintaining soil fertility. The soil sampling process was demonstrated for the farmers and Soil Health cards were distributed to the adopted village farmers. The Agricultural Extension Officer, Lalitha ATMA BTM Smt. Ramya, FMC Marketing Ignition Executive Krishna Teja and around 55 farmers including farmers from adopted village Nagulamallial, Baddipally, Kondapur and other surrounding villages have participated in the programme and made a grand success.
