Conducted field visitOn this occasion facilitated the best farmers Sri. Chintanippu Venkata Gurunatham and Koti Raghupathi Rao, who produced higher yields in pulses seed production. At first we visited the ARS, Madhira farm along with the farmers. After that the programme has started with the lighting of lamps. Dr. K. Rukmini Devi, Senior Scientist (Br) & Head explained about the importance of pulses in agriculture and the varieties released from ARS, Madhira, Bottlenecks and future needs of pulses to the farmers. Dr. G. Venugopal, Scientist (SS&AC) elaborately explained how the pulse cropping system improves the soil physical, chemical and biological properties and also discussed about “Fertilizer management in pulses, he pointed out how to reduce the chemical sources of Fertilizers through integrated approach in pulses and other crops. K. Naga swathi, Scientist (Ento) explained the important integrated pest management practices in pulses Dr. S. Srinivasa Rao, Scientist (Agro) delivered lecture on importance of pulses in human diet and in Agriculture and explained about seed treatment with Rhizobium and phosphorus solubilizing bacteria, crop rotation, sequence cropping with pulses and weed management in pulses. A. Sri Ram, Scientist (Br.) explained about the characters of quality seed and seed production technology in Greengram and Blackgram.
