An exposure visit was organized by ARS Tornala to the students of Sri Chaitanya School, Siddipet on 06-01-2023 with an objective to give an insight into the ongoing research programmes and technologies developed at ARS, Tornala. At the outset, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala has welcomed the students and gave a brief note about ARS and APT, Tornala followed by an overview of soil, water conservation technologies and also explained about cultivars and exhibits displayed in the information Centre of ARS, Tornala. Later, Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC) has explained about the lab equipment present in soil science laboratory and their working procedures as well as the farm machinery and their usage. Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br) briefed about techniques to be followed in sunflower seed production. Mrs. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br) explained about the role of quality seed in raising the good crop and important aspects viz., selection of seed material, isolation distance and processing to be in seed production pulses at ARS, Tornala. Dr. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro.), ARS, Tornala has explained about the importance of meteorological aspects in relation to the crop growth and development and how to measure the weather parameters with help of meteorological observatory. Further, Dr. R. Sathish, Assistant Professor (Entomology), Agricultural College, Siricilla gave an overview about the crop protection laboratory of APT, important pest and diseases of major crops and their management strategies and also explained about the crop production aspects of major crops as well as crop production laboratory and crop production plots raised by the students of APT Tornala under PAMP. The programme was attended by Sri Chaitanya School, Siddipet Principal R. Sunayana, 67 students and also other teaching staff Bhuvana, N. Kumar and P. Kumar and supporting staff have participated in the programme.
