An exposure visit was jointly organized by ARS & APT Tornala to the students of Diploma in Agriculture, APT, Sangupet on 22-10-2022 with an objective to give an insight into the ongoing research programmes and technologies developed at ARS and APT Tornala. At the outset, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala has welcomed the students and gave a brief note about ARS and APT, Tornala followed by an overview of soil, water conservation technologies and University flagship programmes viz., HDPS cotton and dry DSR technologies at ARS Tornala. Sri. J. Vijay, Programme Coordinator, DAATTC Tornala has explained about cultivars and exhibits displayed in the information Centre of ARS, Tornala. Later, Mrs. A, Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br.) and Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.), ARS, Tornala have explained about the role of quality seed in raising the good crop and important aspects viz., selection of seed material, isolation distance, rouging and processing to be followed in seed production pulses and paddy, respectively. Further, Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC) has emphasized about the nutrient management in aspects in all crops. He also, explained about the lab equipment present in soil science laboratory and their working procedures as well as the farm machinery and their usage at ARS, Tornala. Dr. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro.), ARS, Tornala has explained about the importance of meteorological aspects in relation to the crop growth and development and how to measure the weather parameters with help of meteorological observatory. Further, Dr. E. Srinivas, Professor (Extn.), APT, Tornala gave an overview about the Crop Protection Laboratory of APT, important pest and diseases of major crops and their management strategies. Followed by, Sri. A. Sathish, Assistant Professor, APT, Tornala explained about the crop production aspects of major crops as well as crop production laboratory and crop production plots raised by the students of APT Tornala under PAMP. The programme was attended by J. Spandana, Vice-Principal, APT, Sangupet, Jogipet, 42 Diploma in Agricultural Students, APT, Sangupet and also other teaching and supporting staff have participated in the programme.
