Agricultural Research Station, Tornala Organized Field Day on “Green Manure Crops” on 01-07-2022 in Adopted Village Ibrahimpur

A field day on “Green Manure Crops” was organized by Agricultural Research Station, Tornala in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Siddipet duly involving farmers on 01-07-2022 in adopted village of ARS, Tornala, Ibrahimpur, Narayanraopet mandal, Siddipet district. Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala explained about the importance, scope and need of cultivation green manuring crops. She also gave a brief note on management practices which help in improving soil fertility like green manuring, crop rotation, organic manures, etc. Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC), ARS, Tornala explained about incorporation of green manure crops helps in enrichment of soil fertility and organic matter and reduction of chemical fertilizer in rice. Mr. K. Shivaprasad, DAO, Siddipet district briefly discussed about the importance and insisted to grow green manure crop dhaincha preceding kharif rice. Mr. V. Prakash, Narayanraopet mandal AO explained importance of biofertilizers, green manure crops and manures (FYM, vermicompost and poultry manure). Mr. T. Nagarjuna, AEO discussed about success story of green manuring preceding to paddy and saving of 400 bags of urea during kharif, 2021. At the end of the programme Few of the progressive farmers also shared their experiences on green manure cultivation. The programme was attended by Mr. Kameshawara Raju, GCot, Hyderabad along with Sri Devayya, Sarpanch, Sri K. Nagesh Reddy, RSS President and also 95 farmers.
