ARS, Tornala- Celebration of Rythu Dinotsavam on 03-06-2023

Rythu Dinotsavam along with a campaign cum awareness programme on new agricultural technologies was organized by Agricultural Research Station, Tornala in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Siddipet duly involving farmers of Ibrahimpur, adopted village of ARS, Tornala on 03-06-2023. On this programme, rally was taken for creating awareness on Raithu Dinothsavam as a part of “Telangana Dashabdi Utsavalu. Later, scientists and farmers were moved to Raithu Vedhika of Narayanraopet, Siddipet district, where an exhibition was organised showcasing suitable crops and varieties for kharif season viz., rice (JGL-24423; KNM-118, KNM-1638, WGL-962, WGL-44) and redgram (WRGE-97) and arranged for sale seed also. Seed worth of Rs 1,02,500/- (75 bags of KNM 118 and 25 bags of KNM 1638) was disposed during Rythudinotsavam. At the outset, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala addressed the gathering on the eve of Raithu Dinotsavam and explained about the different developmental activities of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultual University viz., formation of new research stations and voluntary centers, release of 61 high yielding new varieties in 15 crops and development of 117 agro-technologies after formation of Telangana. Also given information on various activities of the University like Geo tagging of Tandur redgram, establishment cold pressed oil units of sesame, safflower and groundnut crops and also released district wise soil fertility maps of Telangana and also explained about the usage of drones in agriculture. Development of 40 agri start-ups through agri hub . She explained about the importance, scope and need of cultivation of green manuring crops and discussed about the importance of good quality seed in crop production and seed availability at ARS, Tornala. She also gave a brief note on management practices which help in improving soil fertility like green manuring, crop rotation, organic manures, etc. Later explained about the importance of pest surveillance and integrated pest management practices with special reference to rice yellow stem borer and gall midge and explained about the usage of drones in agriculture and also advancement of kharif rice crops growing by one month to escape the damages through natural calamities and hail storms during yasangi season. Suggested to take up short duration varieties and complete the nursery sowings by 3rd week of June.Later, Mrs. Y. Padma, ADA, Department of Agriculture, Siddipet expressed her views regarding discussed the soil pollution - causes, effects and solution. Mrs. Venkata Ramani, AO, Narayanraopet and Mr. T. Nagarjuna, AEO, Ibrahimpur explained about the different agriculture development activities taken up by government of Telangana for the benefitt of farmers. Followed by MPTC and vice MPP talked about the developmental activities of Narayanraopet manadal since 2014-2023. The programme was attended by agriculture extension officers, graama sarpanch’s of Laxmidevipalli, Banjerupalli, Ibrahimpur, Narayanraopet and Kodandaraopet and RSS Coordinators, public representatives and 650 farmers.
