ARS, Tornala organized a Training Programme on “Management of Stem borer in Rice along with Diagnostic Field visit” at Adopted Village Ibrahimpur on 23-01-2023

A “Training Programme along with field visit on Management of Stem borer in Rice” was organized by ARS, Tornala at Ibrahimpur village on 23-01-2023. At the outset, Smt. T. Venkata Ramani, MAO, Narayanraopet mandal explained in brief about the infestation of stem borer in rice. After that, Mr. T. Nagarjuna, AEO, Narayanaraopet and some of the farmers shared their experiences about the reduced crop growth and development in paddy in association with stem borer infestation. Later, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala explained in detail about the carry forward occurrence of stem borer infestation from kharif crop to rabi crop and management practices to be followed from nursery stage to tillering stage. She also explained about the management practices to be followed at boot leaf stage to avoid white ears at the later stages. Smt. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br.), ARS, Tornala explained about the identification of stem borer damage at field level. Later, ARS and DAATTC Scientists and Agriculture officer, Agriculture Extension Officer, Narayanraopet manadal of Siddipet district visited the paddy fields in the village and suggested the appropriate management methods. In this programme, a total of 24 farmers have participated.
