Audio Conference on “Weather Based Management Practices in Different Crops” at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial District has organized Audio conference in collaboration with the Reliance Foundation on “weather based management practices in different crops”, this audio conference assist the farmers from the selected villages to clear their doubts via communicating through the phone calls to the expert personnel. The conference was held at KVK, Bellampalli and it has involved with the participation of 35 No. of farmers from the 3 different mandals (Buruguda, Persanambal, Ellaram villages from Asifabad mandal, Babasagar, Balaji Ankoda, Dimda, Kajrelli, Manepalle, Manjumpalle and pothapalle villages from Chintalamanepalle mandal and Hathini and Konchavelli villages from Dahegaon mandal) of Aspirational district Kumrumbheem Asifabad on 22.10.2020. In this audio conference, Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Programme Coordinator has addressed the farmers and delivered his valuable speech about the agriculture bill, different management practices and precautions to be taken in the different crops under present weather conditions. Further, it came into light during the conversation that, most of the farmers of Kumrumbheem Asifabad District were not aware about weather based agro advisories and precautions to be taken in crops under present prevailed weather conditions. Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik suggested the farmers to follow the weather based agro advisories and he also suggested that different precautions and management practices in redgram, paddy and cotton crops as mentioned below:

Redgram

  • To Control the leaf Webber in Red gram Spray Monocrotophos @ 1.6 ml or Quinalphos @ 2 ml per litre of water.
  • Prevailing weather conditions are congenial for maruca and helicoverpa in redgram. Spray Chlorpyriphos @ 2.5 ml or Novaluron @ 0.75 ml along with Dichlorvos @ 2ml per liter of water.
  • If  Helicoverpa is noticed, Arrange 10-15 bird perches per acre to facilitate picking up of larvae -Arrange 4 pheromone traps per acre to monitor the pest and Spray 5 % NSKE to kill the eggs and early instar larvae

Paddy

  • Prevailing weather conditions are favourable for BPH in paddy. To control, spray Buprofezin @ 1.6 ml or Dinotefuran @ 0.4 gr or Trifuzomyzam @ 0.49 ml or Pymetrozone @ 0.6 gr per litre of water is recommended.
  • Prevailing weather conditions are favourable for leaf folder and stem borer in paddy. To control, spray Cartop hydrochloride @ 2 gm or Chlorantroniliprole @ 0.3 ml per liter of water is recommended.
  • Prevailing weather conditions (drizzling) are favourable for false smut incidence during flowering stage. Prophylactic spraying Carbendazim 1gr / lit or Propiconozole 1 ml /lit of water twice at 50 and 100% panicle emergence
  • Prevailing weather conditions are favourable for Bacterial Leaf Blight in paddy and suggested to stop the application of Nitrogenous fertilizers to crop temporarily. In early stage to control the spreading of disease to spray copper oxy chloride @ 3 g + Plantomycin @ 0.2 g per liter of water.
  • Prevailing weather conditions are congenial for the in control, spray profenophos @ 2ml or chlorpyriphos @ 2.5 ml /lit of water.
  • For control Rodents in paddy. Prepare baiting with 1 kg broken rice + 20g oil + 20 gr bromadiolone bait mix thoroughly with help of stick and place bait @ 10-15 g /rat burrow.

Cotton

  • To prevent square and flower drop in cotton, spray Planofix @ 2 ml per 10 liter of water twice at 10 days interval.
  • Heavy rains may causes the wilt in cotton crop. To control, drench with the copper oxy chloride @ 30 gr + plantomycin @ 2 g per 10 liter of water.
  •  The Prevailing weather conditions are favourable for pest & diseases in cotton crop. To control, spray Acephate @ 1.5 gr +1gr carbendazim per litre of water is recommended.
  •  Incidence of pink boll warm is noticed in cotton. To monitor install 4 pheromone traps per acre and control measures may be taken up after observing 7-8 adults insects for consecutive three days. To control, spray Thiodicarb @ 1.5 g or Chlorpyriphos @ 2 ml per liter of water.
  • Prevailing weather conditions are congenial for the incidence of leaf spot and sucking pests in cotton. To control spray carbendazim @ 1g and Acephate @ 1.5 g per liter of water.
