Audio Conference on “ Fertilizer and Weed Management in Cotton” at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli on 03-07-2020

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial District has organized Audio conference in collaboration with the Reliance Foundation on “ Fertilizer and Weed management in Cotton” , this audio conference assist the farmers from the selected regions to clear their doubts via communicating through the phone calls to the expert personnel. The conference was held at KVK, Bellampalli and it has involved with the participation of 40 No. of farmers from the Aspirational Districts Mancherial and Kumrumbheem Asifabad on 03.07.2020 at Office of the Programme Coordinator, KVK, Bellampalli. In this audioconference, Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Programme Coordinator has addressed the farmers and delivered his valuable speech about the fertilizer management, weed management, sucking pest management in Cotton and weed management in direct seeded Rice during vanakalam, 2020-21. Further, it came into light during the conversation that, most of the farmers of Kumrumbheem Asifabad District were not following soil test based fertilizer application which results in the indiscriminate usage of chemical fertilizers. Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik suggested the farmers that the recommended dosage of Phosporos fertilizers as Basal to be applied. Whereas 25 kg of Urea and 10 kg Potash will be applied for every 30, 60, 90 days in case of varieties and for hybrids the scheduled application will be on for every 20, 40, 60 & 80 Days After Sowing (DAS). Later, he also suggested the farmers on weed management in Bt cotton, spraying of Quizalofop Ethyl @ 400ml or Propaquizafop @ 250 ml per acre along with 250 ml of Pyrithiobac Sodium in 200 ml of wwater for the management of grasses and broad leave weeds. Besides, suggestions were given to the farmers on weed management with scheduled spraying of herbicides by the experts and importance of seed treatment in Rice, Nursery management, Intercropping in Cotton with Redgram by the KVK Scientists. For this particular audio conference, Dr. Shivakrishna Kota, SMS (Agricultural Extension), Sri. A. Nagaraju, SMS (Plant Protection), Smt. U. Sravanthi, SMS (Horticulture), Sri. R. Mahesh Kumar, RA (Fisheries) were attended.
