Awareness campaign on ban of Single use plastic conducted by NSS unit, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar on 20-07-2022

The Centre has banned the use of ‘single-use plastic’ from July 1. The Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change had issued a gazette notification last year announcing the ban. As the name suggests, it refers to plastic items that are used once and discarded. Single-use plastic has among the highest shares of plastic manufactured and used — from packaging of items, to bottles (shampoo, detergents, cosmetics), polythene bags, face masks, coffee cups, cling film, trash bags, food packaging etc. An awareness campaign on ban for the use of Single use plastic was organized by the NSS unit of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar on 20-07-2022. The NSS volunteers (around 100 volunteers) have conducted an awareness campaign in the premises of Bhavani Colony, Premavathipet, Rajendranagar by taking a rally and raising slogans on the hazardous effects of single use plastic. They have conducted door to door campaign and enlightened the household people about the ban on the use of single use plastic. Dr. J. Satyanarayana, Dean of Students Affairs, PJTSAU, Dr. C. Narendra Reddy, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, all the Heads of the departments, NSS programme officers, around 100 NSS volunteers, teaching and non teaching staff participated in the awareness campaign and made the programme a grand success.
