In obedience to the instructions of the University, a village by name Gundaram, Yellareddypet mandal, Rajanna sircilla dist., in which the Spoorthi foundation is working for the upliftment of farming community, the scientists of Agricultural College, Sircilla have organized an awareness programme on the Agricultural scenario on 15.02.2020. The scientists in different disciplines like Crop Production, Plant Protection Agricultural Extension and Crop Physiology have interacted with the farmers and obtained preliminary information. The scientist Agril. Extension and coordinator of the programme has briefed about the purpose of organizing programme in the village and introduced the faculty of Agricultural College, Sircilla. The major crops being cultivated in the village are Paddy, Cotton, Maize and to some extent vegetables. It was understood in deliberations that the farmers do not have knowledge and the importance of Crop rotation, Seed treatment and Plant protection aspects. Based on the gaps identified, the scientist in different disciplines have interacted with the farmers and suggested appropriate measures for the problems. Dr. G. Samuel, Associate Dean has also interacted with the farmers and briefed about the cropping scenario in the village emphasizing on the major extension gaps to be filled. The sarpanch of the village Sri. Bhukya Shankar, Ex sarpanch Sri. Agam Rao and Spoorthi foundation member Sri. Srinivas and about 30 farmers and also the staff of Agricultural College participated in the programme.
