Awareness Programme on Halting Soil Salinity and Boosting Soil Productivity by Agriculture Polytechnic, Tornala on 5-12-2021

On the occasion of world soil day, an awareness programme on halting soil salinity and boosting soil productivity was organized by Agriculture Polytechnic, Tornala on 5-12-2021. On the Occasion Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal discussed on the reasons for development of salt affected soils, measures to be taken to reclaim and boost the soil productivity. Dr E. Srinivas, Professor (Extn) delivered a talk on the importance of organics in improving the productivity. Dr A.V. Ramanjeneyulu, Senior Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala discussed on the role of crops and cropping systems and Sri A.Sathish, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) enlightened on the importance of management of irrigation water in improving the soil productivity. Students of APT, Tornala organised a rally from APT to Tornala Grampanchayath with placards and slogans on the importance of soil health and interacted with farmers. The programme was attended by nearly 30 farmers of the village along Sarpanch and other progressive farmers.
