Capacity building programme on Best Management Practices in Rice Cultivation at adopted Village Gudur, College of Agriculture , Rajendranagar on 07-08-2021

A training programme on ‘Best management practices in Rice cultivation’ under ICAR SC sub plan was organized by the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University at adopted village, Gudur, Kothur (M) on 07th August 2021 to create an awareness among farming community. Dr B Rajeswari, Professor (Pathology) and the chairman, village adoption committee has inaugurated the programme by giving brief insights about the importance of the programme. Dr C Narendra Reddy, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture Rajendranagar was the chief guest of the programme. Sir has explained that being the most important food crop, it is very important to harvest good yield by following proper & efficient management practices there by reducing the cost of cultivation leading to maximum net returns. Dr. Y. Samta Parmeswari, Assistant Professor was the resource person for the training programme; has explained about the best management practices to be followed in rice cultivation from field preparation to harvesting. Nursery management, nutrient management- time, method and quantity of application has been dealt clearly. Along with this weed management – pre emergence and post emergence weed management with herbicides has been explained to the farmers clearly. Dr B Rajeswari, Professor (Pathology) has explained the management and precautionary measures to be followed for protecting the crop from Blast incidence and has also explained the management of various fungal diseases. Dr. S. Upendhar, Associate Professor (Entomology) has explained the cause, damage, symptoms and management for BPH, stem borer and panicle mite. Dr.S. Sailaja, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) has explained to the farmers about interpreting soil health cards and fertilizer application based on the results. Dr. P. Sri Ranjitha, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) has explained about direct seeding methods and water management practices to be followed in rice cultivation. Dr. M. Venkateswara Reddy, Associate Professor (Horticulture) has cleared the doubts raised by farmers regarding vegetable cultivation. Sri B. Sattaiah, Sarpanch, Gudur Grama panchayat, the team of village adoption committee and farmers from the adopted village were present during the programme. The programme was concluded with the formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr B Rajeswari, Chairman Village adoption committee.
