Capacity Building Programme for the faculty of various State Agricultural Universities on 21 day training on “Sustainable Nutrisensitive Food Systems - A multi pronged approach through Food, Environment, Natural Resources and Technology” from 27th January to 16th February 2023 organised by Center for Advanced Faculty training in Community Science (CAFT), Faculty of Community science at Post graduate research centre, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar. The programme was formally inaugurated on 27th January at Post Graduate Research Centre by the chief guest, Dr S.Sudheer Kumar, Registrar, PJTSAU at PGRC. The inaugural session started with the invocation by University song followed by lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. Dean faculty of Community Science and CAFT Director, Dr. Ratna Kumari presided over the program and explained about the significance of CAFT in Community Science and its objectives in enhancing the skills and knowledge of the SAU Faculty which is conducted every year with the support of Indian council of agriculture research funds for updating faculty of Community Science. Dr. S Sudheer Kumar in his inaugural address explained that everyone has to try and reach the broad theme i.e. one earth, one family, one future through new safe technologies such organic farming and biofortification which are safe for human consumption , soil, water and microbiome. The Course Coordinator Dr.T.Supraja, Head of the Department of Foods & Nutrition has explained the importance of the theme in the current scenario of climate change. Training sessions are being given by scientists coming from the reputed organizations like MANAGE, NIN, NAARM, ICRISAT, and NIRD apart from faculty of community science f foods & Nutrition department...Later, course director Dr.T. Supraja spoke about the importance of nutrition security in the changing scenario impacted by challenges from current agriculture , food systems involving pesticides, antibiotic and environment changes posing great challenge in meeting reccommended dietary allowances through sustainable systems. There are total of 22 registered participants who are scientists, teaching faculty from various fields such as Foods & Nutrition, extension education in Community science and Food engineering, Food technology, Horticulture, Biochemistry, Plant physiology, belonging to SAU’s from Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nādu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. HODs of the five departments of Community Science and and Dr. Jamuna Rani Director (IP), participated in the programme.
