A 3 days training programmes was organized to the farmers of Bijnapally mandal on 18.12.2019 to 20.12.2019 at RARS, Palem. At this programme adaptation strategies prepared by PJTSAU in co-ordination with ICRISAT and Department of Agriculture were explained to the famers and officials present at the programme. A total of 80 farmers from five villages viz., Lattupally, Vattem, Vaddeman, Salkarpeta, Vasanthapure of Bijinepally mandal, Nagarkurnool district have attended the three days training programme. In addition to these scientists from RARS & KVK, officials from Department of Agriculture have also attended the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. K. Avil Kumar, Associate Director of Research, Southern Telangana Zone and P.S. (Oil seeds), Programme Co-ordinator, KVK, Palem, ADA, Nagarkurnool division were the dignitaries on the dias. The programme was started with inviting dignitaries onto the dias by Sri. M. Parimala Kumar, Scientist (Agro) followed by lightening of the lamp and university song. Sri. M. Parimala Kumar, Scientist (Agro) has briefed about the programme. Various topics covered under this capacity building programme were maintenance of CLICs, suitable crops and cropping systems for contingent situations, agronomic practices for soil and moisture conservation practices, farm ponds for better management of rainfed crops micro irrigation methods for efficient use of harvested water, custom hiring centers and availability of low cost implements, drudgery reduction, forecasting market price in rainfed areas, production technologies of rainfed horticultural crops, suitable IFS module for small and marginal farmers and dairy, poultry and small ruminants as integral part of IFS by involving PJTSAU scientists, Department of Agriculture and veterinary and animal husbandry. Remaining capacity building training programmes are planned to be conducted during January, 2020.
