On the occasion of soil health card day celebrations from 17th to 19th February the RARS, Warangal organised farmers and scientists interaction in adopted village on 18.02.2020. The Associate Director of Research RARS, Warangal grace the occasion and explained about the importance of soil health card that by adopting soil test based fertilizer recommendation to different crops can save fertilizer consumption up to 30 percent in case of phosphorus and potassium and also advise the farmers to include pulses in the cropping system to enhance the soil fertility by enhancing soil organic carbon status. District agricultural officer also attended meeting and explained about the use of bio-fertilizers which will solubilise the unavailable form of phosphorus and potassium eventually reduce the quantity and cost of fertilizers to different crops and also she reiterated the farmers to use advanced technology in crop production especially farm machinery and plant protection measures. Dr.Ch.Ramulu, Scientist (SSAC) explained about the origin and launching of soil health card by PM Modi on 19.02.2015 at suratgarh, Rajasthan the main objective of this card to give detailed report on soil health i.e pH, Ec, OC, avl.N, P, K, Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn, B and Mo by using the card fertilizer application rate can be moderated to particular crop that if soil test indicated low the application rate of a nutrient can be increase up to 30% to recommended dose, if soil test indicates higher application rate of a nutrient can be decreased up to 30% of recommended dose, if soil test indicates medium the application of a nutrient cannot be altered, the pH of soil should be always 6.5-7.3 for neutral soil and Ec should be always < 1.0 dSm-1. In adopted village the farmers are adopting soil test based fertilizer recommendation to cotton, turmeric, maize and rice crop by this practice the farmers could save fertilizer worth of Rs.8 lakhs in the entire village without reducing the crop yield in a year. The farmers actively interacted with the scientists in the session.
