Celebration of Soil Health Card Day by RS & RRS Rudrur on 19-02-2020

In compliance to the File No. 16-1/2020 Fert. Use, Date: 11.2.2020 of the Additional Commissioner (INM), GOI, Dr.M. Sreedhar, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding) & Head, Regional Sugarcane and Rice Research Station, Rudrur, Nizamabad, participated in the “Soil Health Card Day” celebrated at Ansapally Village, Dichpally (M), Nizamabad on 19.02.2020. The team of officials comprised of District Agricultural Officer, Nizamabad, ADA’s, AO’s and Programme Coordinator, KVK, Rudrur. Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch of the Village also participated in the programme which was attended by farmers who were distributed with “Soil health cards” with result, of major and minor nutrients in their land holdings. The Programme Coordinator, KVK Dr.RVT.Balazzii Naaiik explained about the Fertilizer management practices in the major crops of the village. Speaking on the occasion Dr.M. Sreedhar sensitized the farmers regarding steps to be takenup in enhancing the organic carbon content of the soil and efforts to be takenup to improve soil physical properties by way of green manuring and composting. He stressed about the responsibility of the present generation to pass on fertile lands to the next generation. He further explained about the importance of fertilizer management based on soil analysis results. The District Agricultural Officer, Nizamabad Sri.M. Govind explained the farmers about ill effects of indiscriminate use of fertilizers on a long term basis. The programme concluded with distribution of “Soil Health Cards” to about 111 farmers of the village with a suggestion to moderate their fertilizer doses based on soil test results.
