World Earth Day celebrated at Gullapet, an adopted village of Agriculture College, Jagtial on 22-04-2022

The programme was started by Dr. P. Ravi, Scientist (Soil Science) by inviting guests on to the dias and welcomed the farmers and officials for the programme. Chief Guest, Dr. M. Uma Devi, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Jagtial addressed the gathering and insisted about the importance of this day to create awareness about environmental issues like climate change, pollution, excessive use of plastic and indiscriminate use of chemicals in Agriculture which are affecting our planet Earth. Sri. Krupa Shakar Garu, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO explained about eco-friendly agricultural products of the company and also urged the farmers to follow balanced and needed fertilizer application based on soil testing. Dr. K. Chandra Shaker, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) explained importance of ‘World Earth Day-2022” with the theme Invest in our Planet with respect to agriculture. He advocated the farmers to increase organic carbon in their fields through raising of livestock and its role in improving the soil health which in turn reduces dependence on chemicals in farming and also improves the health of animals and human beings. Dr. G. Satyanarayana Reddy explained about ways and means to improve soil immunity through beneficial microorganisms, increasing organic carbon, crop diversification and crop rotation. Mr. Chandra Babu, District Marketing Manager, IFFCO explained about the bio-fertilizer and nano-urea products in improving of soil health for the benefit of farming community. Mr. Ganga Reddy Garu, Progressive farmer and Raithu Bandu Committee Member, spoken about the activities to be taken up to save our planet at village level. At the end Dr. G. Satyanarayana Reddy, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) gave reflections of the meeting and proposed vote of thanks. About 35 farmers from Gullapet Village, ELP and M.Sc. (Ag.) students from Agriculture College, Jagtial participated in this programme.
