World Earth Day Celebrations at Agricultural College, Warangal on 22.04.2022

As a part of World Earth Celebrations at Agricultural College, Warangal a series of programs were been organized. Dr. M. Balram, Associate Dean presided over the program. Program started with a thought provoking lecture entitled “Importance of Soil carbon sequestration in Agriculture - Sustainable Developments Goals” was delivered by Dr. J. Kamalakar, Asst. Professor, Soil Science, for the benefit of the students. Ms. Mahitha from Isha foundation attended the celebrations as a guest speaker. She enlightened the students about the importance of conserving the earth habitats with the help videos showcasing the activities of the Isha foundation with Save Earth – Save Soil motto. Dr. M. Balram in his presidential remarks enlightened the students about the need to conserve the habitats and ecosystems. He also quoted the examples how the people are being rewarded with carbon credits across the globe. This is followed by valedictory session. 20 students have participated in elocution, painting and essay writing competitions held in connection with the World Earth Day on 21.04.2022. Dr. M. Balram and Ms. Mahitha have distributed the merit certificates to the winners and runners in various contests. Finally vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. M. Harika, Assistant Professor (Hort.), Agricultural College, Warangal.
