Celebrations of World Earth Day at adopted village, hegdoli, by College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur on 22.04.2022

World Earth Day 2022 was celebrated at the adopted village, Hegdoli, of Kotagiri Mandal, Nizamabad District on 22.04.2022. The programme was started with welcoming address by Mrs. Prashanthi Meda, Assistant Professor and Officer In-Charge of Village Adoption Programme, followed by play of video on Soil developed by Isha Foundation. Then, Er. Rajender, In-Charge Associate Dean, has spoken over the occasion emphasizing the importance of conserving the soil by minimizing the use of chemicals in agriculture. Dr. Suresh, Subject Matter Specialist, Krishi Vignan Kendra, Rudrur, who is the resource person for the programme, has spoken over the occasion, importance of organic farming, biofertilizers, impact of excessive use of chemicals and their impact on soil health. He emphosized on usage of organic manures and biofertilizers. He urged the farmers to get the soil tested and get guidance from the scientists on usage of fertlizers and suitability of the soil to various crops and strictly follow the recommendations to get the maximum crop yield and conserve the soil health. Certificates were distributed to the winners in elocution and progressive farmer in the village. Er. G. Rajender, In-Charge Associate Dean, CFST, Rudrur, Dr. J. Sai Prasad, Assistant Professor & Officer In-Charge of Village Adoption Programme, Smr. M. Prashanthi, Assistant Professor & Officer In-Charge of Village Adoption Programme, Mrs. B. Amala, Assistant Professor, 17 students from IV year, and 32 farmers attended the programme. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. J. Sai Prasad, Assistant Professor & Officer In-Charge of Village Adoption Programme.
