The College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur conducted virtual tour of Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari on 08.02.2022 at 3.00pm to 5.30pm to III year students of B. Tech (Food Technology) as part of course COCA-301 (Student READY-Industrial Tour). Er. Fakir Mohar Sahu, Asst. Professor, Department of Food Process Engineering has participated from host organisation in this programme. This programme began with welcome speech of Smt. M. Prashanthi, Asst. Professor, department of FDSQ. Followed by resource person Er. FM Sahu briefed out various departments of the institute and job opportunities. He has shown recorded videos on various equipments and processing technologies in the institute. The instruments include fruit graders, onion graders, washing units, infrared driers, fruit pulpers, juice extractors, low temperature grinding machines, onion flaking machine and various units mango processing unit, fruit ripening unit. Different products produced in the institute include, mango pulp, instant mango milk shake powder, tomato ketchup, tomato puree, fruits and vegetables stored under modified atmospheric storage. Some of the products developed from the waste include chikoo oil extracted from chikoo seed, semai from banana peel and candy from watermelon rind. Later on students were interacted with Er. FM Sahu and learnt more knowledge on different equipments and technologies from harvesting to final end products. The programme was concluded with with vote of thanks by Er. G. Rajender, Asst. Professor, CFST, Rudrur. Associate Dean, All teaching staff and student of II & III year B. Tech (Food Technology) were participated in this programme.
