The College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur conducted virtual tour of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore on 09.02.2022 at 2.00pm to 4.00pm to III year students of B. Tech (Food Technology) as part of course COCA-301 (Student READY-Industrial Tour). Dr. Parigi Ramesh Kumar, Senior Scientist Department of Technology Transfer & Business Development has participated as resource person from host organization in this programme. This programme was started with welcome speech of Er. G. Rajender, Asst. Professor, Department of FDPE. Then, the resource person Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar has given presentation on various technologies developed by the institute like chest nut based gluten free products, multigrain gluten free semolina, shelf stable bread, shelf stable muffins, multigrain pasta, sugar free snack items, nutria beverages, sugarcane juice bottling, low glycemic index beverages for diabetics, tender coconut water concentrate with added sugar, chutney spreads, ready mix of idli, dosa, upma, jamun, low sugar milk burfi, nutri oil blends, tamarind candy, soya based instant sambar mix, spirulina products like spirulina chocobar and spirulina cereal bar, value added products from coconut, dehydrated banana, dehydrated nutribar and instant mushroom soup mix. They have developed low fat buffalo milk powder in collaboration with Anand Dairy, Anand. 4PM bar, a fruit based bar, is also one of the successful product of the institute which is now available in Amazon. They are also offering skill oriented training programmes to the interested persons and also providing technical support in establishing small scale food based entrepreneurs. They are also providing guidance through online to those who wish to establish food based industries. Later on students were interacted with him and learnt new technologies developed by CFTRI. Dr. R. Swamy, Associate Dean, CFST Rudrur explained about various college activities and recent achievements. He requested the distinguished guest of CFTRI to organize guest lecture to the students of CFST, Rudrur in near future. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Smt. M. Prashanthi, Asst. Professor, CFST, Rudrur. All teaching staff and student of II & III year B. Tech (Food Technology) were participated in this programme.
