The College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur conducted virtual tour of National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) – Thanjavur on 09.02.2022 at 2.00pm to 4.00pm to III year students of B. Tech (Food Technology) as part of course COCA-301 (Student READY-Industrial Tour). Dr. D.V. Chidanand, Asst. Professor, Department of Food Process Engineering has participated as resource person from host organization in this programme. This programme was started with welcome speech of Er. G. Rajender, Asst. Professor, Department of FDPE. Then, the resource person Dr. D.V. Chidanand, Asst. Professor has given presentation on various technologies and processing lines developed by the institute like fruit processing pilot plant, ice cream processing pilot plant, onion processing, coconut processing, value added food products from jackfruit, moringa incorporated food products, pulse based nutria-pellets, skim coconut milk products etc. The institute also has an incubation center to promote young entrepreneurs under the roof of NIFTEM. Later on students were interacted with him and learnt new technologies developed by NIFTEM. Dr. R. Swamy, Associate Dean, CFST Rudrur explained about various college activities and recent achievements. He requested the distinguished guest of NIFTEM to have an MoU with CFST Rudrur. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Smt. M. Prashanthi, Asst. Professor, CFST, Rudrur. All teaching staff and student of II & III year B. Tech (Food Technology) were participated in this programme.
