The College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur conducted virtual tour of College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh on 11.02.2022 at 9.30am to 6.00pm to III year students of B. Tech (Food Technology) as part of course COCA-301 (Student READY-Industrial Tour). Dr. H.D. Rank, Principal, Dept of SWE, CAET, Dr. D.B. Chavda, Asst. Professor, Department of Farm Machinery & Power Engineering, Er. Nirav Joshi, Department of Processing & Food Engineering, Er. Manoj Sojitra, Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, Er. P.J. Bagda, Department of SWE and Mr. P.R. Mathukia, Agriculture Officer of CAET were participated in this programme. The programme was started with welcome speech of Er. G. Rajender, Asst. Professor, Department of FDPE. Then, the resource persons of host organization showed their recorded videos department wise. During the visit, the facilities in the Dept. of Processing and Food Engineering include Drying laboratory, Unit operations laboratory, engineering properties laboratory, microbiology laboratory, storage engineering laboratory and crop process engineering laboratory. Dept. of Agricultural Process Engineering has tomato processing unit where processing of tomatoes to various value added products like tomato ketchup, puree etc as a part of Experiential Learning Programme. The department also has mango processing unit where canning of mangoes will be done. The canned mango was launched under the Swaraj Brand Kesar Mango Pulp by Honorable. Prime Minister, Sri. Narendra Modi. Later on students were interacted with all the resource persons of CAET, Junagadh and learnt knowledge on different farm machinery, soil and water conservation techniques, various renewable energy sources and basic engineering principles in addition to knowledge on food processing. Dr. R. Swamy, Associate Dean, CFST Rudrur explained about various college activities and recent achievements of the college. He expressed his happiness on arranging the entire day program and requested the distinguished guests to have knowledge sharing programmes in the future between CFST and CAET. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Smt. M. Prashanthi, Asst. Professor, CFST, Rudrur. All teaching staff and student of II & III year B. Tech (Food Technology) were participated in this programme.
