The Inter-Polytechnic Sports, Literary, and Cultural Meet was held at Agricultural Polytechnic, Tornala, Siddipet district, from 13th-15th February 2025. This was a significant occasion as it marked the first time the college hosted state-level competitions since its establishment in 2015. The three-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 211 students representing 10 different polytechnic colleges across Telangana, including, Kampasagar, Palem, Maltummeda, Jogipet, Tornala, Rudrur, Madhira, Kandi, Jammikunta, Basantapur and Narayanpet. The event was a celebration of sports, intellect, and culture, giving students a platform to exhibit their talents across multiple fields. The event featured a wide range of competitions, encouraging students to showcase their athletic skills, strategic thinking, and artistic talents. Students participated in various sports, including, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Carroms, Throwball, Tennikoit, Running (Sprints & Long-Distance), Javelin Throw etc., Apart from sports, the event also featured intellectual and artistic contests, fostering creativity and knowledge. These included, Essay Writing, Elocution, Quiz competitions, Poster painting competitions, Songs & Dance Performances. These activities ensured that students from diverse backgrounds could participate and showcase their skills in multiple areas. The evenings were filled with cultural programs, making the event not just competitive but also entertaining and engaging for all participants. The meet was officially inaugurated by Dr. Ch. Venugopal Reddy, Dean of Student Affairs, along with other esteemed officials from Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University. The inauguration began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. Several prominent university officials and dignitaries graced the occasion, including: Dr. R Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, Central Telangana Zone, Dr. Suresh, Professor and University Sports Observer, T. Radhika, District Agriculture Officer, Siddipet and Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal, Agricultural Polytechnic, Tornala. During the opening ceremony, Dr. Venugopal Reddy emphasized the importance of sports and extracurricular activities in student life, highlighting how participation in such events helps in discipline, commitment, and self-improvement. He encouraged students to view winning and losing as part of the learning process and to focus on their growth and development through sports. Dr. Suresh, the university’s sports competition observer, spoke about how sports play a crucial role in mental and physical well-being. He stressed the need for students to start skilling themselves in sports at an early stage to excel in their respective fields. The competition saw fierce yet friendly battles between different teams, with every college showcasing exceptional sportsmanship and team spirit. The winning teams displayed outstanding performances, securing top positions in various categories. In the final results, Overall Champion (Boys’ Section) was won by Agricultural Polytechnic College, Tornala while Overall Champion (Girls’ Section) was won by Agricultural Polytechnic College, Jogipet. Overall Champion (Cultural and Literary ) was won by Agricultural Polytechnic College, Rudrur. The event concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony on February 15, 2025. Several senior officials from the university attended the closing function and distributed prizes to the winners. Notable dignitaries included Dr. G E Ch Vidyasagar, Registrar, Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, Dr. K. Jhansi Rani, Dean of Agriculture, Dr. Ch Venugopal Reddy, Dean of Student Affairs and Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, CTZ. During the concluding remarks, Dr. K. Jhansi Rani congratulated all the students for their dedication and commitment. She assured that efforts would be made to enhance sports infrastructure at polytechnic colleges to support student athletes. Dr G. E. Ch. Vidyasagar, Registrar, PJTAU delivered an inspiring speech, stating that skills and discipline are essential for success in both academics and life. He encouraged students to focus on overall personality development, combining education with extracurricular achievements. Dr. Venugopal Reddy reinforced the value of sportsmanship and resilience, reminding students that winning is a reward for hard work, but learning from failures is equally important. Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal of Tornala Agricultural Polytechnic College expressed deep gratitude to all the university officials, faculty members, and students who contributed to the event’s success. Special thanks were given to Dr. Venugopal Reddy and Dr. Suresh for their guidance and support. Dr. Suresh, in his closing speech, commended the Tornala Polytechnic team for their efforts in hosting the event smoothly, despite limited resources. He also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students from various polytechnic colleges. The three-day state-level sports and cultural meet was a memorable and inspiring experience for all involved. The event not only helped students showcase their talents but also fostered teamwork, leadership, and camaraderie among participants from different colleges. For many students, this event was an opportunity to explore their potential, develop competitive spirit, and build friendships that would last a lifetime.
