Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal participated in the week long awareness campaigning on “Crop diversification programme (CDP)” organized by Department of Agriculture, Mahabubabad at different Rythu Vedikas of the district. Programme Coordinator and Subject Matter Specialists of KVK, Malyal explained the scope of alternate crops like Pulses, Oilseeds, Horticultural crops in place of Paddy under bore wells in the ensuing Yasangi season 2021-22. KVK, Malyal Scientists participated in CDP organized in the Rythu Vedikas of Kothapeta & Bayyaram (24-09-2021), Ammapalem, Uyyalawada, Jamandlapalli (25-09-2021), Vemnur (27-09-2021), Kuravi, Bodhugonda, Vennaram (28-09-2021), Mahabubabad, Gundenga, Sandrallagudem (29-09-2021), Mahabubabad, Amangal, Chilukodu, Mogilicherla (30-09-2021) and acted as resource person on the main agenda where a total 604 number of farmers actively participated in the interactions. Farmers of the district in principle, agreed upon the feasibility of taking up alternate crops in place of Paddy but raised issues like measures to decrease monkey menace, timely availability of seed, marketing facilities of crops like Safflower, etc, which were also discussed in the interaction sessions.
