DAATTC-ARS, Tandur organized Kisan Mela, Agriculture Exhibition under special project on HDPS cotton at DAATTC, ARS, Tandur, Vikarabad district on 20.11.2023
- Dr.V.Sudha Rani, (Director of Extension, PJTSAU) and Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy (Director of Research, PJTSAU) inaugurated the Exhibition stalls and visited the models exhibited by the ARS, Tandur staff and private companies.
- Dr. Parimala, Principal Scientist, ARS, Tandur given welcome address of the delegates and farmers. Mr. T. Laxman, Coordinator, DAATTC, Tandur explained about the objectives of the Project & briefed the progress of project including number of farmers, area under HDPS cotton and number programs conducted in Vikarabad district.
- Then, Dr. C. Sudha Rani (Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tandur) Explained about the Importance of the HDPS cotton in the present situation to increase the yield levels of the cotton farmers.
- Dr. M. Malla Reddy, ADR, RARS, Palem emphasized on importance of HDPS cotton under present climate change conditions especially under light soils.
- Later farmers interaction where, they have mentioned about different field level problems including pest, diseases, suitable varieties in different rabi crops. To address these issues different research station scientists mentioned accordingly.
- Dr. B. Ram Prasad, Principal Scientist, ARS, Adilabad, given the details management practices, and suitable varieties, under HDPS cotton cultivation, how HDPS cotton will helpful for the increasing productivity and also explained the usage of the Mepiquate chloride dosage and how to use when to use it and its advantages, explained about different pests and diseases management and IPM practices
- Dr. C. Sudhakar, Principal Scientist, Agriculture Research Station, Tandur explained about the suitable varieties and agronomic management practices need to be done under rabi pulses and oil seeds cultivation.
- Dr. T. Rajeswar Reddy, Scientist, Agriculture Research Station, Tandur given overview on pest disease management in rabi pulses and oil seeds.
- Dr. Y. Chandra Mohan, Principal Scientist, IRR, ARI, Rajendranagar explained about recent rice varieties released by university and also rice nursery management during rabi season.
- Dr. N. Ram Gopal Varma, Principal Scientist,IRR, ARI, Rajendranagar given clear cut information on pest and disease in rabi rice and their management practices for getting higher yields.
- Dr. B. Padmaja, Principal Scientist, AICRP on weed management, Rajendranagar, how effectively farmers can control all type of weed flora in rabi pulses and oil seeds, recent released novel herbicides molecules and also other integrated weed management practices for effective weed control.
- Dr. K. Vani Sree, Senior Scientist, Maize Research Center, Rajendranagar, explained about the most destructive pest fall army worm identification symptoms and their management in rabi maize.
- Dr. A. Shankar, SMS, KVK, Palem given overview on different pest and diseases horticultural crops and their best management practices for higher net returns.
- Dr. S. G. Mahadevappa, Senior Scientist, ACRC, ARI, Rajendranagar, how university is disseminating the weather forecast weather prediction in the state through agriculture extension officer for the planning the all field operations.
- D. Narayana, REAC member, Tandur mentioned importance of short duration cultivars for HDPS cotton.
- Sri. Gopal, District Agriculture Officer, Vikarabad instructed the farmers should follow the all necessary management practices with help of AO, AEOs, which scientist have mentioned for increasing yields in cotton.
- Finally, Dr. J. Gulsar Bhanu, Principal Scientist (CICR, Coimbatore) how government is investing for the benefit of farmers, so, farmers should take this opportunity as stepping stone for increasing the area under HDPS cotton at the same time giving scope for the complete mechanization in future.
- Dr. V. Sudha Rani, Director of Extension, PJTSAU addressed the gathering that HDPS technology is need of hour for the present labour scarcity situations, highlighting the scope for the mechanization to reduce the cost of cultivation and higher net income for the farmers.
- Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy (Director of Research, PJTSAU) explained about the why HDPS cotton as introduced how farmers can overcome pink boll worm attack, at the same time mentioned university activities and achievement in the line of suitable varieties for HDPS cotton and encouraged the farmers to expand this technology further in the upcoming season.
- Finally Dr. Parimala, Principal Scientist, ARS, Tandur gave the Vote of Thanks to the farmers, Scientists, Agriculture department officers and print & Electronic media, also acknowledged the Central Cotton Research Institute, Nagpur for providing necessary fundsfor the successful implementation of the kisan mela. After that lunch followed.
