D.A.A.T.T.C. – ARS, Karimnagar organised “Parthenium Awareness Campaign” on 22-08-2022 at Rajanna Sircilla District

D.A.A.T.T. Centre – ARS, Karimnagar has organized “Parthenium Awareness Campaign” at Sthambampalli village of Boinpalli mandal in Rajanna Sircilla District as a part of Parthenium Awareness Week from 16th to 22nd August, 2022. In this Programme Dr. K. Madan Mohan Reddy, Scientist (TOT) & Coordinator addressed the farmers that Parthenium hysterophorus was an alien invasive weed, producing 5,000 to 25,000 seeds per plant and easily dispersed to distant places due to its light weight. It affects the health of animals, plants, people and environment as it is present everywhere including crop lands, city dwellings and rail and road sides. He informed the farmers about the strategies for control of this obnoxious weed. It include community mobilisation involving all sections of society, organising regular meetings and demonstrations for awareness creation, uprooting the weed before flowering. In this meeting Sarpanch–Smt.Jyothi Karunakar, Upa Sarpanch-Sri. Srinivas Reddy, Progressive Farmer and DLCC member-Sri. Puli Laxmipathi, Principal Representative, Agril. College, Jagtial-Smt. Sushma and 36 RAWEP students and around 15 farmers participated in the programme.
